Hi, I’m Steve Kamb!

I’m an author who writes books about empathetic behavior change.

You’re probably here thanks to my new book, How to Try Again, a book about what to do after you life doesn’t go the way you expected it to.

(My life certainly didn’t go according to plan while writing it).

I’ve been making my living as a writer/author on the internet since 2009. Whatever brought you to my little corner of the internet, I’m glad you’re here.

I started NerdFitness.com as a side hobby in 2009, and accidentally turned it into a worldwide community (millions of visitors / year), website (1,000 published articles), and team (20+ team members).

First and foremost, I’m an author and I love writing, so please go check out some of my recent essays.

I am a huge bookworm, gamer, and cinephile, so I can’t help but nerd out about my favorite stuff too.

I send out a fun short newsletter, “Trying Again With Steve Kamb,” every Monday, directly from my weird brain to your inbox, that will make you feel slightly less alone, and maybe make you laugh.

I also publish those same essays over on Substack, if that’s more of your jam.

Sign up below, and I’ll send you the first chapter of my book How to Try Again:

Here’s a smattering of random facts about yours truly.

  • My new book is called How to Try Again, (published by St. Martin’s Press). I demoted myself twice so that I could spent the last four years writing this book. I’m so proud of how it turned out.

  • My first book, Level Up Your Life (Rodale) was published in 2016.  With over 40,000 copies sold, I recently reacquired its publishing rights (10-year anniversary edition coming in 2026).

  • I’m a full-time disaster who occasionally manages to do fun stuff: I exercised around the world, lived like James Bond for a weekend, and spoken at some of the world’s biggest companies and Vanderbilt University. I gave a TEDx talk in 2012.

Oh! I am also active on a few other platforms in case you absolutely need more Steve in your life:

  • Threads: I have been having a lot of fun over on Threads, sharing daily and having fun making new connections with other creators.
  • Instagram: I’m still trying to figure out how to make Instagram something I enjoy creating for, but please follow along for weekly content that’ll make you laugh and think a bit differently.
  • Substack: I cross post my essays to Substack and occasionally leave notes there too.
  • YouTube: In the rare instance I make a video, it’ll be over on my YouTube Channel.
  • Bluesky: Text first, baby. Go say hi over on bluesky!
  • Letterboxd: I see a lot of movies, and still go to the theater regularly. I’m doing my best to document my thoughts over on Letterboxd, so see you there!
  • IGN Gamelist: I’ve been reading IGN daily since the N64.com days! I’m also a big fan of their Playstation and Nintendo podcasts. And I track my gaming over there.
